Complexes of β-lactam antibiotics and their derivatives with the Schiff bases as a weapon in the fight against bacterial resistance. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ccr.2023.215326

The paper "Complexes of β-lactam antibiotics and their Schiff-base derivatives as a weapon in the fight against bacterial resistance" was published in the journal Coordination Chemistry Reviews (IF=22,315, points=200, percentile=99). The work describes β-lactam antibiotics, which are widely used chemical compounds in medicine due to their strong antibacterial activity. The biggest advantage of antibiotics is their strong bactericidal activity, low toxicity, good clinical efficacy, and chemical structure, especially the possibility of modifying side chains, resulting in a variety of broad-spectrum antibiotics. All β-lactam antibiotics share a common mode of action, which is to inhibit the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. In addition, the antibacterial activity of β-lactamases can be enhanced by complexation with metal ions, in particular zinc ions.
